Sharon's Story

On May 18, 2010, I became a Gold Star Mother. My life changed forever.
As a past president of the American Gold Star Moms said: “When this journey is placed upon us by our child’s death, we too must learn to recognize the open door and the opportunities it gives us to give back to the community. In the process we learn new skills and discover our own hidden strength trying to turn this unbearable negative into a powerful positive.” |
Since then so many doors have opened to me. I consider each of these opportunities as a gifts from my son.
One of these gifts was being elected as a Board Member for Rossford School District, passing a bond issue for new schools for our students and culminating in the honor of introducing President Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention in 2016. These were all gifts from my son, my Hero. |
